An Ode to Gardens

Gardens are where life is lived, where meals are shared and the slow passage of seasons is felt most deeply. For us, they have always held a particular pull.

Our love for them began in childhood, watching parents tend their gardens with patience and care, sourcing plants from cuttings and sales, shaping something beautiful from years of quiet effort. Those gardens became the backdrop to our earliest memories. That feeling never left us.

Working with living plants as a design material is unlike anything else. From the first sketch on trace paper, through planting day, and across the years that follow as a garden finds its rhythm, there is a quality to the process that no other medium can offer.

Every site arrives with its own character: its orientation and soil, its framed views, the particular way light moves across it through the day. Our role is to listen to the site, and to the people who will inhabit it, and to create something that belongs there entirely. A garden that feels inevitable, as though it could not have existed anywhere else.
